Get to know Marcus Rhymer, of Latitude 32 Credit Union in Charleston, SC, who has been in his position of CEO for eight years. I recently learned that to unwind at the end of the day, Marcus taps into his musical side as a seasoned guitar player.

Marcus began playing at fourteen. He bought his first guitar, a Kramer Striker, which he still has today. His collection also includes PRS/Paul Reid Smith and Jackson electric guitars along with Taylor and Cordoba acoustics guitars.

His top musical influences stem from the MTV era and lean toward heavy metal and Southern rock. Among his favorites are The Allman Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, and Led Zeppelin just to name a few.  Social media has earned Marcus Instagram likes from Andy Sommers, guitarist for the Police, along with Lou Graham, the lead singer of Foreigner. 

Marcus was in a band, but between the credit union and family, he enjoys playing just for fun and relaxing at the end of the day. He has a twelve-year-old son, and three daughters, ages six, thirteen, and fifteen.

His son enjoys playing guitar and was recently accepted into a local school for the arts to further his music education.

Marcus’ wife recently purchased a guitar and plans to start playing more this summer. With this family talent, we may see a new band in the making!
